Is it Possible to Buy Burial Insurance for Someone Else?
The short answer is yes. However there is a longer discussion that needs to be had. There are some rules and regulations that pertain to getting another person life insurance, but it is nothing too crazy.
The main thing you need to have is what is called an “Insurable Interest”
This means that you have to have some sort of financial risk if the insured were to pass away. For example: you can not just find some stranger walking down the street, have them fill out an application and put you as the beneficiary. There must be an interest there.
However, if that person had debt that you were tied into as well, like a cosigner on a mortgage or car note, then you would have insurable interest in that person. If they were to pass away, you would suffer a financial issue, therefore that gives you an insurable interest.
As long as you have it, you are good to go to get burial insurance on whoever you like!
Where Can I Get Burial Insurance for Someone?
This is a great question, and one that I get from time to time. If you are looking for an in depth answer, I actually wrote an article about this topic here on my site. If you want to check it out just click here.
Long story short, you can get your burial insurance right here from me! If you haven’t read my “About Me” page, I have been in this business since 2018 and the vast majority of my career has been focused on getting burial insurance for seniors 55+.
I do offer other types of life insurance, but Burial Insurance is my bread and butter. I know the ins and outs of the business, and I represent the best insurance carriers in the country! Many of which you have heard of and watch their Television commercials.
You can take a look at what carriers I represent on my homepage here.
Can I Pay for Someone Else's Burial Insurance?
You absolutely can! It is very easy to be the payor of someone’s policy. This means the payment that you set up will come out of an account with your name on it. I see this a lot with children buying burial insurance for their parents and vice versa.
It is amazing that we are able to do this kind of thing! It really goes to show it pays to work with an independent broker like me! There are so many things that you can do that you may not be able to do if you go to your local State Farm or Allstate to get your burial insurance.
P.S. you will also pay way more with them than you would with me! So if you have a policy with them currently, let me know and we can see if there is a better price out there for you.
How Do I Get Someone Else Burial Insurance?
I will break this down in 3 simple steps.
- Get a Quote
- Apply for Coverage
- Pay the first Premium
Getting a Quote
All of these steps are very easy, but this is definitely the easiest.
To get a quote from me, all you have to do is fill out your info on the right of this page, or wherever you see “Check Burial Insurance Rates”.
This will give you instant access to look at prices and what you can expect to pay for the coverage amount that you select. It will also let you pick what company you like best!
Pretty simple right?

Applying for coverage is very easy too! There is just a little more that goes into this step.
For this part, I do most of the work, you just answer questions! Each carrier has their own health questions that I am required to ask, so once you have picked your price and company, I will just need to qualify you and apply for the coverage.
You answer the health questions, I send the application. We typically get approval instantly. If not, the good thing about it is because I am independent, I have 10 more companies to choose from that will tell you yes.
You never have to worry about not qualifying for coverage with me.
Paying Your First Premium
This is the final step, and it completes your burial insurance! Once you have been approved, you decide when you want the first payment to be taken out.
Once it is taken, you are completely covered! The cool thing about this step is you can decide to put your first payment out several weeks to a month from the day you apply. You don’t have to have an immediate payment, which is so important especially if we are working with individuals who are retired or on disability/social security.
Conclusion
In conclusion, buying burial insurance for someone else could be the best gift that you get them.
You are not only protecting them, you are protecting the family and loved ones of that individual. It is a wonderful thing to do for people, and like I said, one of the best gifts you could buy for someone.
