What is Lincoln Heritage Funeral Advantage?
Firstly, we need to know what this actually is, and how it works. Lincoln Heritage Funeral Advantage is the burial insurance product offered by Lincoln Heritage, the insurance company. The Funeral Advantage is what they call the final expense product that they offer.
Simply put, it is a form of life insurance designed to cover a burial expense such as cremation, funeral, etc.
When you die, they pay out.
The product has a maximum coverage amount of $35,000, and the minimum coverage amount must meet $15 monthly. So no exact number there, which many don’t like.
Keeping in mind that there are hundreds if not thousands of options when it comes to burial insurance, the Funeral Advantage doesn’t even make my list when considering options for my clients.
Ultimately, I believe quality is important. Also, price is equally important. If a carrier lacks in one area, they should make up for it in another. Lincoln Heritage does this with their membership that is included in their policies unless the client opts out, called Funeral Consumer Guardian Society (FCGS).
To be frank, the FCGS does absolutely nothing and holds no value in my opinion. Therefore the grossly overpriced Funeral Advantage plan is a horrible option for seniors when considering their burial insurance options.
What is FCGS?
The Funeral Consumer Guardian Society is a membership offered through the Funeral Advantage plan by Lincoln Heritage.
The client has the option of becoming a member or not, but the FCGS is ultimately a marketing tool that Lincoln Heritage uses to justify the outrageously high prices of the Funeral Advantage plan.
Basically, the company provides a funeral planning assistance, which will be done at any funeral home you use anyways. They offer their own store for funeral products to help decrease the costs of the funeral. They advertise that on average clients save $1,800 for funerals and $600 for cremation costs.
Unfortunately, this does not justify the high price, and definitely does not offset it. Sadly clients are having to pay 20-150% more for these policies than they would with my carriers, and not getting a good enough benefit to justify it.
Lincoln Heritage Funeral Advantage Reviews
If you are a person who looks at reviews, you will be disheartened looking at the reviews of the Funeral Advantage.
There are many complaints on this company, which can either be taken with a grain of salt, or taken seriously, that’s up to you.
Ultimately, this is about making sure you are with an experienced carrier who specializes in burial insurance. There are simply too many options out there that are far better. As mentioned above, clients with Lincoln Heritage typically have to pay anywhere from 20-150% more.
How much money could you save, or use to increase your coverage? That is a whole extra policy with a reputable company. Don’t fall in the trap of paying more for burial insurance than you have to, especially with the Funeral Advantage plan.
Better Alternatives
As I always say, burial insurance is not a “one-size fits all”. It is very much personalized, and specific to the individual situation.
With that being said, I represent the best carriers in the nation that provide burial insurance, and I definitely have my favorites.
Mutual Of Omaha
The Living Promise offered by Mutual of Omaha is their final expense burial insurance product. It is phenomenal, and so is the company! They have been around for so long and specialize in quality life insurance.
The best part is they always write the check, which is the most important thing to consider when searching for burial insurance. It is also one of the most affordable options out there for healthy clients.
Aetna/CVS
CVS is one of my favorite companies for a variety of reasons, but again they have a perfect record of paying out. They also have one of the simplest application processes in the industry. You can literally have coverage in 10-15 minutes. This burden can be lifted off of your shoulders in minutes!
They have great options for healthy clients as well as not so healthy, so don’t let your prescription list or health diagnosis keep you from seeing what’s out there, CVS may have day one coverage options for you!
Royal Neighbors of America
This company speaks for itself when you consider the benefits they offer. Being around since the 1800’s, they know a thing or two about burial insurance.
They have phenomenal rates, and accept many diabetics or those with mental health issues!
Many Others
Thankfully, I represent the top carriers in the country, so the list goes on and on. This works well for my clients because again, it is not a one size fits all. I have options for everyone and can confidently say that my clients are in the best position possible.
